Yesterday, saw a movie BOOK OF ELI............
After watching that movie, was reflecting on the movie...........was thinking about Faith.........
I'm a catechism teacher for the past 5 yrs. In one of the training sessions that we had long back, the priest was talking about faith....How will you define faith??? He told a story which I still remember... I thought I'll share the story....
Once a man was walking on the side of a road at night. The road was on a mountain n one side was a cliff. Suddenly the man slipped n fell down the cliff. But while he was falling, he got hold of a branch of the tree. While hanging onto that branch, he cried out aloud, "Help me! Help Me!" He held onto that all the while for his dear life...Suddenly he heard a voice calling out from below, "Jump down." But the man held onto the branch and replied "No ways! If I jump, I will die." The voice repeated, "You will not die, leave your hands and jump" But the man refused. He held onto the branch. The entire night he kept holding the branch. As dawn approached, he saw the reasoning behind the voice.He was just a few feets above the ground. If he had listened to the voice and jumped he would have saved himself the pain of holding onto the branch for the entire night. He lacked faith in the voice.
Finally the priest concluded saying, " FAITH IS A LEAP INTO THE DARK"....
So true........Faith is a leap into the dark........we don't know what our future holds....we don't know the complete picture....But with faith, we can face the difficulties of life....Faith will give us hope............Abraham showed faith, and he was blessed ...But keeping faith is not easy....The promise given to Abraham could not be believed by anyone in his right sense...Having a son at the age of 100????? Surely if anyone was to tell us today the same thing, who will believe it???? That's where faith plays a role.........Abraham believed and had faith in God's promise........He was rewarded abundantly....There are numerous examples in the Bible of people who have remained faithful to God ............In my life too, I have experienced the miracles of having faith many times............Small small instances, but instances where faith has led me to happiness.......... but also being human, there are times of doubts..........but I pray that Jesus remove all my doubts and help me to have Faith in Him at all times..........Praise You Jesus! Thank You Jesus!
